Here, after many questions and requests, is a journal explaining Open Vault for newcomers and those with questions.

The Open Vault is a roleplay chatroom. There is no specific theme or main characters, as most anything goes for the type of character and how they interact.

The setting is New Vault City, a city inhabited by everything from vampires and werewolves to humans and insect based aliens. Irish pub owner/body guards, holiday-themed mass murders, paranoid and superstitious asylum escapees traveling with sarcastic vampires with metal wings-- The long, unique list goes on and on.

Every author/artist brings something new to the chat room, whether it be just the presence of their characters or plot ideas, and everyone is open to contribute freely [and politely, should some other plot be underway].

As a general rule, Open Vault only permits OCs-- Original Characters-- which there has been past confusion about.

An Original Character, for our purposes, is a character made primarily for their own story that is not affiliated or connected with a pre-existing story.

This is not to say we have anything against fan characters or find them unoriginal-- simply that the chat room is intended for Original Character use only.

Naturally, there are plenty of rooms for Fan Characters, so that would be the better choice if you'd prefer it.
